You’ve built a successful coaching business. Now let’s make sure it builds wealth for you, with steady pay, real protection, and a plan to retire on your terms.
Rianne de Castro, CFP® | Ottawa-based, serving coaches across Canada
Your income comes in waves...
Big launch months, quiet months, and no idea what a “normal” paycheque should be. You’re not sure how much to pay yourself, how much to keep in the business, or what’s actually safe to spend.
You left the safety net behind...
No pension, no employer RRSP match, no group benefits. If you couldn’t coach for a few months, your income would stop, and you know you should be saving but aren't sure how much is enough for retirement.
You’re getting mixed advice…
Your accountant handles last year’s taxes, Instagram is full of conflicting tips, and you’re still wondering whether to incorporate, use an RRSP or TFSA, or invest through your business. You want one clear plan that ties it all together.
Fee-for-service financial planning gives self-employed coaches structure, clarity and confidence, so your business builds lasting wealth for you, not just income.
✔ Pay Yourself Like a Pro
Turn uneven launch income into a steady, predictable paycheque. We set up how much to pay yourself, how much to keep in your business, and the cash buffers that keep quiet months stress-free.
✔ Protect the Income You’ve Built
When you’re self-employed, your income stops when you do. We review disability and critical illness coverage, emergency reserves and what you’ll need for parental leave, so one setback doesn’t undo years of work.
✔ Build Wealth That Keeps Working When You Stop Coaching
Create your own retirement plan without an employer pension. We map out how much is enough, and how to use RRSPs, TFSAs and business savings so your money grows efficiently.
✔ Make Big Decisions With Confidence
Should you incorporate? Can you qualify for a mortgage? Where should extra launch money go? Get clear, objective guidance on the decisions that shape your financial future as your business grows.
We work alongside your accountant and lawyer, so your tax filing, legal structure and financial plan all work together.

MEET YOUR PLANNER
Hi, I’m Rianne de Castro, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) based in Ottawa, working with online coaches across Canada.
I know coaching businesses firsthand. My husband is a bodybuilding coach, so I’ve seen the big launch months, the quiet months, and the questions that come with them: How much should I pay myself? Am I saving enough? Should I incorporate?
I started De Castro Wealth to give coaches the kind of planning their business deserves: clear, personal, and focused on the life they’re building, not just the taxes they owe.
Every plan starts with your goals. From there, we build a strategy for your cash flow, protection, and long-term wealth, and I stay with you as your business and life change.
How I’m paid: You pay a flat fee for your financial plan. If you choose to invest through Modern Advisor, my investment partner, I receive an ongoing advisor fee from your account, based on the amount invested. If you get insurance coverage through me, I’m paid a commission by the insurer. You’re always free to implement your plan wherever you like.

I help you set up your accounts, savings, and coverage, and work with your accountant so everything lines up. Then we check in regularly and adjust your plan as your business grows.

Quick answers to help you decide whether De Castro Wealth is right for you and your coaching business.
I work with online coaches and consultants across Canada who earn $10K+/month and want a clear plan for their money. Clients are both sole proprietors and incorporated business owners. I’m based in Ottawa and meet with clients virtually. Insurance services are available to Ontario residents.
Financial plans are a flat fee agreed upfront: $3,500 for sole proprietors and $4,500 for incorporated coaches. If you choose to invest through ModernAdvisor, my investment partner, I receive an ongoing advisor fee based on the amount invested. If you get insurance coverage through me, I’m paid a commission by the insurer. You’re always free to implement your plan wherever you like.
It depends on your personal expenses, your business’s cash needs, and your savings goals. A good starting point is a steady monthly amount based on your average income, not your best launch month, with extra income kept as a buffer in the business. Your plan sets your exact number.
Yes, if you opt in. Self-employed Canadians can register for EI special benefits, which include maternity and parental benefits, but you have to register at least 12 months before claiming. Your plan will also cover how to self-fund time off.
No. Many coaches I work with are sole proprietors. Part of your plan is deciding whether and when incorporating makes sense for your income and goals.
Your accountant focuses on taxes and filing. A financial planner looks ahead at your whole financial life: how you pay yourself, protecting your income, saving for retirement, and big decisions like buying a home. The best results come when we work together, so I coordinate directly with your accountant.
Often both, but the right mix depends on your income and how you pay yourself. One thing many coaches don’t realize: if you’re incorporated and pay yourself only through dividends, you don’t build new RRSP contribution room. That’s why your pay strategy and retirement plan need to be planned together.
No. I’m based in Ottawa and work virtually with coaches across Canada.
